The Labyrinth
A Walking Meditation
The labyrinth is seen as a tool to aid the consciousness and self-awareness. It is a healing journey in a walking meditation. Labyrinth walking is an ancient practice used by many different faiths for spiritual centering, contemplation, and prayer. Entering the serpentine path of a labyrinth, you walk slowly while quieting your mind and focusing on a spiritual question or prayer.

At Elderberry Sanctuary, our labyrinth was originally created by a group of 25 women who gathered together for a labyrinth retreat. Each woman brought a stone to add to the design. Each stone represented a spiritual intention for the participants, creating a sacred "God Box".This tradition has continued, with retreat participants adding their own stones and their own intentions to the Labyrinth.
We use our labyrinth as a tool during workshops and group work, and offer retreats specific to labyrinth walking throughout the year.
